Hello, during the Lead conversion process including the Opportunity creation we get the error in the subject line. After making all the checks on the Lead mapping area I found that:

  1. It only occurs if I create the Opportunity upon conversion.
  2. I can convert and create the oppty without error if I change the record owner. 
  3. Only the owners with a specific custom profile can convert and create oppty.
  4. If I change the owner and use myself (System Administrator) I get the error too.
  5. I am convinced that difference is on the profile of the record owner: I compared mine and the one who can create the oppty and couldn't find any difference.

 Where should I investigate in order to understand this difference? Checked all custom permissions too :-(

    Is there a difference in some field level security for a specific field on Opportunity?

    Or maybe you have some automation that tries to update a field for some profiles only.

    Not sure if it will show, but you could try to generate a debug log under your name, recreate the issue and see if anything shows in the log
