We are just starting with our Pardot implementation and I have a question about email sending domains. I wanted to check if:

  1. Will we need to warm up a new email sending subdomain (we will be on a shared IP so presumably we don’t need to warm the IP up)
  2. Would it be beneficial for us to continue using an email domain we are already using with another email service provider (we will continue using that service provider parallel to Pardot)? i.e. if we use the same subdomain for sending email from Pardot as we do for this other provider, would we be able to skip the domain warm up process (if this is in fact required) and take advantage of the existing domain reputation we have already built up which would help our deliverability?

When we started it up we used the shared IP and used the same domain that we were using with Mailchimp. I think it worked well as we were not seeing a drop in opens and clicks and didn't seem to increase the bounce rate. I think our bounce rate might have actually gone down. You should be able to skip the domain warmup process. The big thing is the IP warm up which is already done.
