We had a rep that was creating new contacts after he was logging a call under an opportunity. When you click on the magnifying glass to associate the contact to the opportunity there is a 'new' button to allow the users to create a new contact on that page. However that only requires a last name and no other fields are required. This was causing some reps not to see the activity he was logging because that contact wasn't associated to an account because he only put the last name in. 

 

Does anyone know if I can disable that 'new' button on that page or make other fields required?

    Easy fix!

     

     

    Setup>User Interface:

     

    Disable the "Show Quick Create" flag

     

     

    Quick Create is evil and should be banned. It invites users to create data in violation of best practices. Some users might complain but, it must be done.

     

     

    After you uncheck the "new" button on lookups for Contacts go away.
