Hi,
We are using Tableau Server 2025.1.3 installed in Docker (https://help.tableau.com/current/server-linux/en-us/server-in-container.htm) on a dedicated server with Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS on board.
We build complex workbooks and views that use Clickhouse and Google sheets as data sources. And we've set up the scheduled extracts for our data and turned on Acceleration for views.
So as far as I understand, view display time should be approximately the same each time we open a view.
But sometimes "Working on it" popup appears and it just hangs on "Computing models".
Normally a view opens in about 10 seconds but when it hangs it just shows the popup no matter how long I wait (10 minutes and more). It happens about 1 of 5 times and it is very disturbing for our analytics team.
I didn't find any issues on the server side: cpu, la, memory usage - everything indicated that server is not under any significant load. And there where no active jobs (extracts or acceleration) at the time hanging appeared.
We've used Tableau Server 2022 before and never encountered this problem.
Hi @Analytics Smartproject ,
The issue with "Computing models" hanging despite no obvious resource strain sounds like it could be tied to the acceleration or extract refresh coordination, especially since this didn’t happen on 2022. Acceleration sometimes can get stuck if the extract or query cache isn't properly in sync or there's a subtle connectivity or driver hiccup with your Clickhouse or Google Sheets sources. I'd recommend checking if Tableau’s logs reveal any timeouts or connection retries around those hang times. Also, try temporarily disabling acceleration on those views to see if it eliminates the hanging—it would help isolate whether acceleration is the root cause. Upgrading drivers or ensuring Docker resource limits aren't constricting could also assist, even if CPU or memory look fine at a glance.
