I've exhausted every internet resource including the Trailhead community and YouTube trying to figure out why after step 5, where you clone the Standard User Profile, it leads me to a page with no Edit button. I'd really appreciate some help. Thank you.

Salesforce use two interface for profiles. One is normal user interface ( which is used for this module )and the other is enhanced profile user interface provides a streamlined experience for managing profiles. With it, you can easily navigate, search, and modify settings for a profile.
You have enabled the "Enhanced Profile User Interface" that why you don't able to see the EDIT button on profile home page.
You can do two things :
1. Disable the enhanced profile user interface and use normal interface
2. Complete this module using enhanced profile user interface.
To disable Enhanced Profile User Interface :
Go to Setup --> In Quick find box Type “User Management Settings” --> Disable the enhanced profile user interface.
Now go back to your profile and there you can find edit button.
2. Complete this module using enhanced profile user interface.
Click on Object Setting under the App Section --> Select the object "Account" --> Now you can find the Edit button and Object Permission section.
