What do you suggest is a better solution for our agreements to update automatically to "Expired" status during expiration date rather than users manually clicking on the "Expire" button each time? I realized my WF rule will not fire since there was no editing made on the record, I was merely relying on whatever date was attached to the agreement end date field and I am hoping that on that date, Status will update to Expired. Do you know how else I can achieve this automation? Is not doable using WF?

You have to develop time dependent workflow with 0 Days After Expiration Date.
