If you have mobilized the Users object and Contact object you should be able to use events just like you use in Salesforce over the PC but the completion of events and sending invites is done only once the data syncs with Salesforce from I phone. Please read through the implementation guide wich will give you the full details of the behaviour of saleforce mobile and what to expect from it.
