Map Salesforce Usernames to Pardot Users

Any users with assigned prospects in Pardot should have a Salesforce username selected in their user settings. If a user doesn’t have this set up, Pardot reassigns their prospects to the Salesforce connector user in Pardot. Here’s how to map users individually.

  1. In Pardot, navigate to Admin | User Management | Users.
  2. Click Gearto the far right of the chosen user, and click Edit.
  3. Scroll down and select the appropriate Salesforce user from the CRM Username dropdown menu.
  4. Click Save user.

You should now see your Pardot username and your CRM username together in the Email/CRM column.

If you have a large number of users to map, you can do the mapping all at once via import.

Set Up Salesforce Pardot Single Sign-On

Salesforce/Pardot single sign-on (SSO) enables users to transfer seamlessly between Salesforce and Pardot without needing to separately log in to accounts. SSO also prevents Salesforce users from having to enter their Pardot username and password in order to view a Visualforce page in a lead or contact record. You can enable SSO for your users in Pardot either by performing a user import at the individual user level or by following these steps.

  1. In Pardot, Navigate to Admin | User Management | Users.
  2. Use the checkboxes on the left side of the table to select all users for whom you wish to enable SSO.
  3. From the dropdown at the bottom left of the users table, select Enable single sign-on with CRM.
  4. Click Go.

Import Salesforce Leads and Contacts into Pardot

Once you’ve connected Salesforce and Pardot, you can import your existing leads and contacts into Pardot. (The connector doesn’t automatically create prospects in Pardot from existing Salesforce leads and contacts; you need to import them first.) You only need to do this once to establish your initial sync. Once the import finishes, Pardot syncs the new prospect record with the existing Salesforce lead or contact record, and any future updates sync automatically.

  1. In Pardot, navigate to Admin | Import | Prospects.
  2. Drag the CSV file from your computer, or click + Upload File.
  3. Check the required Compliance field to verify that you have read Pardot’s Permission Based Marketing Policy.
  4. Click Next to load the CSV file into Pardot.
The Choose File page, showing a checkmark next to the file name on a green bar signifying it’s been uploaded correctly
  5. Map fields in your CSV file to corresponding fields in Pardot.
    1. Pardot automatically suggests mappings based on column headers.
    2. You must map email address. You can also choose to sync prospects based on their Salesforce lead or contact ID as well as their email address.
    3. You can overwrite existing data by checking the overwrite existing data box.
  6. Click Next.
