Set Up Reports and Dashboards
Learning Objectives
After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:
- Create a custom report type and report.
- Create a dashboard.
Set Up a Report
Matt and Corinne have planned their interest tag framework, and Matt has used the guided setup to configure interest tags in their org.
Corinne’s team is having great success using interest tags to categorize customer interactions and uncover relationship growth opportunities. But Corinne wonders how many more opportunities there are with customers that her team doesn’t see on a daily or even weekly basis. She wants to easily see a list of customers who might be interested in certain products. That way, her team can reach out to and help these customers reach their financial goals.
Matt and Corrine spend some time reviewing the type of data the sales team would find most helpful and how it should be organized. Then, Matt heads back to his office to put the plan into action.

Creating a custom report type is an essential first step for reporting on interest tags. So Matt creates a custom report type. He selects Tag Categories as the primary object, enters report type details, and adds Topics as a related object. Interest tags are virtual objects that are built on top of the Topics object.

Now that he has a new report type, Matt builds a report that groups interest tags by the tag category name. He customizes the report by adding columns for Topic: Name, Description, and Topic Assignment: Name. Matt groups the records by Category Name and saves the report. He runs this report and shares the collected insights with Corinne and her team.
Create a Dashboard
Matt decides to create a dashboard to help Corinne and her team identify new opportunities based on the data gathered by the report. He creates a simple dashboard to display:
- Number of growth opportunities by tag name
- Total number of customers with potential opportunities
- Interests and opportunities sorted by customer name

Now, Corinne and her team can quickly see interest tag data to give informed and relevant suggestions to customers. The suggestions help customers reach their financial goals and grow their relationship with Cumulus Bank.
Summing It All Up
Following Matt’s example, you and your sales teams can incorporate interest tags into your daily customer interactions. With Financial Services Cloud, it’s easier than ever to deliver personalized service and financial product recommendations!
