Meet Girl Scouts

When you think of Girl Scouts, you might think of cookies, campfires, and friendship bracelets. And sure, those are all part of the exciting, life-altering journey—but there’s so much more to it!

Since 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA has been building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts are big thinkers, groundbreakers, and role models. They design robots, climb mountains, lobby city hall, improve their communities—and, yes, they sell the best cookies on the planet to power all their awesome adventures.

But did you also know that Girl Scouts offers the best leadership development experience for girls in the world?

Meet Accenture

Accenture is a global consulting and professional services company that helps other businesses reimagine the way they work, invent new things, enact change, and deliver results. Accenture is also hugely passionate about giving back and about the work that Girl Scouts of the USA does. In fact, Accenture helped Girl Scouts rethink the way girls sell cookies and brought that process into the digital world. Now you can buy your Girl Scout Cookies locally from a neighborhood Girl Scout or online from a Girl Scout anywhere in the country.

Accenture believes in the Girl Scout mission and in developing the next generation of young leaders, so it partnered with Girl Scouts to bring you this introduction to Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

The Girl Scout Leadership Experience

The Girl Scout Leadership Experience is a one-of-a-kind leadership development program in which every Girl Scout participates. It’s based on time-tested methods and research-backed programming that help girls take the lead—both in their own lives and in the world.

Research shows that girls learn best in an all-girl, girl-led, and girl-friendly environment. At Girl Scouts, girls practice different skills; explore their potential; take on leadership positions; and even feel allowed to fail, dust themselves off, get up, and try again.

Girl Scouts is proven to help girls thrive in five key ways as they:

  • Develop a strong sense of self.
  • Seek challenges and learn from setbacks.
  • Display positive values.
  • Form and maintain healthy relationships.
  • Identify and solve problems in the community.

Girl Scouts takes the potential of girls, combines it with comprehensive skill-building programming, and adds caring adult mentors and strong female role models.

Everything a Girl Scout does—whether she’s earning a Brownie badge or her Gold Award—relates back to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); the outdoors; life skills; or entrepreneurship. And it’s all designed to meet her where she currently is and grow along with her.

When she’s a Girl Scout, she’s also a G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™. Every day, Girl Scouts tap into their powerful G.I.R.L. spirit to make amazing things happen.

Now you can tap into your own leadership skills. We all have leadership potential to nurture and grow, no matter our age, gender, or socioeconomic status. When we learn to access our unused reserves of confidence and empathy, reflect on what leadership means to us, and mentor a younger person or are mentored by someone we admire and respect, we inspire leadership in ourselves and in others. Remember, no one can make you a leader—you alone can empower yourself to step up.

Are you ready to take the lead like a Girl Scout?
