Skill Up

In the previous unit, you decided to look for a solution on AppExchange that can help you understand how Ursa Major’s sales team is using Salesforce. You also defined your AppExchange strategy. AppExchange has plenty of options, so how do you find what you need? Let’s find out.

Personalize Your AppExchange Experience

Maybe you’ve heard of Trailblazer, your unified Salesforce profile. With Trailblazer, you can log in to one Salesforce site, such as Trailhead, then go to another site, like AppExchange, and you’re automatically logged in. No matter why you visit AppExchange, it’s worth taking a few seconds to make sure you’re logged in. Logging in personalizes the home page, and will save you time later if you decide to try or install a solution.

You logged in to AppExchange. What now? The answer depends on whether you came to AppExchange to browse, or if you strategized ahead of time. In either case, it’s worth getting familiar with the home page.

Start at the Top

A view of the search box and the top-level navigation menu on the AppExchange home page with callouts on the navigation bar (1) and search bar (2).

  • Navigation bar (1). The AppExchange navigation bar provides quick access to popular pages on the marketplace. The Explore page guides you to highly-rated solutions for common business challenges, industries, and Salesforce products. The Collections page offers solutions handpicked by Salesforce experts. The Consultants page shows specialists with deep industry knowledge and proven Salesforce expertise. Finally, Learn provides AppExchange news, tips, and customer success stories.
  • Search bar (2): If you came to AppExchange with a strategy, search is your secret weapon. Just plug in keywords from your strategy and let AppExchange do the rest.

Discover Your Personalized Recommendations

When you’re logged in, you’ll see recommendations tailored to your interests. Whether you’re an admin or a business operations manager, check out solution suggestions specific to your role.

Keep scrolling to find recommendations specific to the industry you work in, and other aspects of your Salesforce experience. The more you use AppExchange, the better the suggestions.

Earlier, you learned how to reach the Explore page from the navigation bar. If you visit AppExchange and you’re not exactly sure what you want, Explore is the best place to start.

With Explore, you begin by choosing an area of interest (1), for example, a business need, industry, or Salesforce product. Explore then shows you popular, highly rated solutions for that area. To refine your exploration further, apply a filter (2). You can quickly search all the available filters using the search field (3).

Search and Filter the Expert Way

Remember your AppExchange strategy? You’re looking for a free app for Ursa Major that’s compatible with Lightning Experience that can help you track user adoption.

Let’s head to the search bar.

  1. In a new browser tab, open the AppExchange website.
  2. In the search box, enter dashboard.
  3. Press Enter or Return.
  4. In Solution Type, select Salesforce App.
  5. In Pricing, select Free.
  6. In Supported Features, select Lightning App Builder and Lightning Experience.

By searching and filtering, you went from thousands of possible offerings to a much shorter list. Convenient, right? The top result, Salesforce Adoption Dashboards listing, looks promising for Ursa Major. It’s free, is highly rated, and was updated recently.

But Wait, There’s More…

Go ahead and click Salesforce Adoption Dashboards to open this listing. You need it for the next unit. Keep reading to learn about AppExchange listings in detail.
