We use a third-party app to create leads from our company Web Page.  When the Contact form is submitted it transfers to Salesforce as a New Lead.

We have a new issue where web page submissions cause an error when the person is identified as an existing Person Account / Converted Lead and there is no transfer.

We still want to be alerted in Salesforce that the person submitted a Contact Form and we are not sure how to manage this.

Hi @Teri Curtin great question. For us it is important that a new lead is created even if it is an existing customer, because he/she could be then ready to buy, for example to request a quote of a different product he/she was not buying before.  So from business perspective it is important to track the new lead. You could use a different sales org and org id perhaps to make sure that you still get the lead.

Suddenly, clicking "Convert" on a Lead gives users and system administrators "Check Your Permissions

You don't have the necessary access to use this feature. Please check with your Salesforce Administrator." Convert button is using VF page npsp__LD_LeadConvertOverride, which the profile has access to. The only thing that changed that I know of is that we were switched to Spring '24.

You're awesome @Dodi Friedenberg! Of course, I've known that since 2017 at JVS!

    A couple notes:

    1. Users must also have R/E to the Title field. Since we don't use that, I hadn't previously granted access. But thanks to your Github link, I figured it out.
    2. Users must have CR access to Opportunities in order for both the Opportunity Name field and the Do not create a new Opportunity upon conversion checkbox field on the conversion page to appear (Opportunity Account appears either way). Previously, those fields appeared regardless of the permissions. However, the conversion will still work without those permissions or the fields being visible. This is fine, as long as the NPSP Setting for Leads is set to the appropriate default. In my case, that's unchecked, which causes the Do not create a new Opportunity upon conversion checkbox field to be checked by default. Since we don't use Opportunities for Leads, it works out just fine that users suddenly don't see a couple fields that they never use. Less clutter is always better!

Our team wants to ensure that sales members can see past and present Leads on an Account.  This will show if an inside sales members is talking to a prospect account thru a Lead before outside sales creates a needless opportunity.

I know you can show converted leads on an account.  I experimented with lookup field on Lead to Account object.  This seems to work so far.

Does anyone else have a possible solution?

Hi, @Daniel Walker, does your Org have a Pardot license? If you happens to have Pardot Advanced edition and above you will have access to the OOTB Match Leads LWC. It will list related Leads on an Account page sidebar*, and notifies the user if there is a match between any Lead’s ‘Company’ field and the Account’s name. Users then can "screen" Leads that should be converted into Contacts on this Account. Reference here: https://www.salesforceben.com/salesforce-matched-leads-component-assign-leads-to-an-account/

If you don't have Pardot or the right edition, it's possible to build a custom LWC with Apex Controller for similar functions to pre-filter any potential linked Lead records to the Account record.

When a Lead is converted in our org, the converted Lead record remains. It is then available to be searched / seen by Users which causes confusion around duplicates (people see the Lead & Contact record and therefore assume a dupe).

Does anyone know of a way to hide, or at least 'lock' the converted Lead from being edited / seen?

TIA!

Sales receive the most hot leads from our 'contact us' form and they go through the assignment rules. All 'other' (engaging) leads are assigned to marketing queue. Sales want more leads that are actively engaging with our assets. Is there a way to route such leads that meet a certain threshold (score of +70 AND grade not equals 'F' to sales? I learnt that assignment rules won't work for existing lead records and was wondering if there another way? thanks in advance for sharing any thoughts.ideas.

We can enable 'History Tracking' and add the 'Lead History' Related List to the page layout.

Set up > Object Manager > Lead > Fields & Relationships > Set History Tracking > Enable Lead Tracking > Select the 'Lead Owner' field > Save

Set up > Object Manager > Lead > Page Layouts > Lead Layout > Related Lists > Drag and drop 'Lead History' > Save.

Hi! I'm curious how other people manage multiple emails for leads? We have people filling out forms with different emails, same name and it is triggering our duplication rules thus a new lead isn't being created, which I want as I don't want multiple leads for the same person. However, how do I add all these various emails into one lead record?

Here are approache to manage multiple emails for leads in Salesforce, preventing duplicate leads and ensuring all contact information is captured:

Utilize Duplicate Management Rules and Merge Function

    1. Adjust Duplicate Rules: Modify your existing duplicate rules to allow leads with the same name but different emails.
    2. Merge Duplicates: After multiple leads are created with the same name and different emails, use the Merge Leads feature. This allows you to combine these leads into a single record, preserving all associated information like emails.
    3. Workflow Automation: Consider creating a workflow that automatically merges duplicate leads based on specific criteria (e.g., name and email combination).

I have a Manager running a report under the "My team's leads" condition, and only her own leads are showing. Altering that one filter to "All leads" immediately shows all of the leads I expect to see, so one of the other filters can't be the issue. I've double checked that the leads in question were submitted by reps in roles UNDER the managers role. Is there a setting or filter that I am not considering?

Yeah, I think that's the issue:  The "Team Members" no longer own the Leads, and there is no Lead equivalent to the Case Lifecycle Report, where you can track ownership hand-offs throughout the life of the Lead (which would be nice)

Ken Huelskamp 님이 #Flow에 질문했습니다

I have a team who sends a standard welcome email (template) to each Open lead every morning.  They then change the lead status to Contacted.  I would like to automate this process and believe Flow would help me with this.  I have been trying to figure out the steps I need to take to accomplish this and have been unsuccessful so far.  Any thoughts or hints would be very appreciated.

Hey @Ken Huelskamp, you can create a record triggered flow on email message object to check for the email and then update the status on the Lead record.

Here is the article providing an example usecase of how to use email message trigger:

    https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000393845&type=1

You can reference this article to create your own flow and utilize the Subject as a filter criteria as your email template has a static text.
