What's the best practice to test a user profile and permission sets as an admin?

I'm the System Administator for Salesforce. I'd like to test the profiles and permission sets I've created for different users. Do I need to login using their account or is there an easier (and more secure) way to test the functionality of their account?

    Yes, you need to login as them.  If this is not already enabled for you, go to Login Access Policies in setup, and check the box "Administrators Can Log in as Any User."  After doing this, navigate to the user detail page for the person that you want to login as and you should see a "Login" button.  Click it!  You will then be navigating through the system with their access levels.
