Can you insert a new record with opportunity and update an existing record at the same time? Or do we have to do two separate uploads?

I would like to insert a new contact record with an opportunity and update an existing contact with another donation/opportunity they have made. Should I utilize the data import wizard or use the data loader for this instance?
