Salesforce introduced great feature enhancements over the past year. Let’s take a look at some of the more important ones.

Enhance Asset Management with Linear Relationships Update

Consider a case where a sales representative wants to add an asset in the asset viewer to a quote. Typically, the sales representative also wants to add its related (linked) assets to the quote and optionally perform MACD operations on them. Additionally, sales reps sometimes want to add the assets for which the current asset is considered as a related (linked) asset and optionally perform MACD operations on them. Sales reps can now select a target asset and its linked assets for Move, Add, Change, Delete (MACD) operations. This update helps sales reps save time and be more efficient by handling multiple related assets at once.

Where: This change is available in Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Developer, Performance, and Unlimited editions with Enterprise Sales Management.

How: This change is automatically enabled. In the Related Asset column for an asset in the asset viewer, sales reps can click the preview icon to view the Select Linear Relationships for MACD window. In this window, sales reps can select one of these options under Relationship Category to add appropriate assets to quote.

Recognize the Renamed Communications Cloud Agent Console

Winter ’24 brings a fresh start for Communications Cloud B2C Agent Console with a brand new name—Communications Cloud Agent Console. This name better reflects dynamic support for B2C and B2B services. The Communications Service Console available in Communications Cloud Agent Console provides communications service providers (CSPs) with a central place to manage B2C and B2B accounts, their billing accounts, assets, and cases. This console provides CSPs a preconfigured customer landing page with all relevant information and processes to provide optimum customer experience.

Reduce Errors When You Generate Compiled Cache

Use the Diagnostic tool on the Vlocity CMT Administration tab to preemptively identify and resolve common data setup issues. The tool helps streamline the process, reduce errors, and enhance overall data quality.

Certain common data setup issues can occur before you run the Standard Cart APl’s Generate Compiled Data job. These issues can lead to errors and reduced data quality during the data compilation process. The Diagnostic tool performs several checks to ensure the integrity of your product and pricing information. The tool helps:

  • Verify that all product records have a corresponding child item record.
  • Identify any child item record with missing minimum or maximum quantity values.
  • Prevent potential data integration issues by confirming the accuracy and setup of your Interface Implementation Details.
  • Ensure accurate pricing calculations by identifying PriceListEntry_c records with missing price book entries.
  • Validate OverrideDefinition_c records, particularly those for attribute overrides, to confirm that they are properly configured and not referencing nonexistent attributes.
  • Highlight promotions that must be updated or removed by identifying any promotion (Promotion_c records) with an effective end date in the past.

This Diagnostic tool is available only with Communications, Media, and Energy (CME) Spring ’24 package version 248.8.8 onward.

How: From the App Launcher, find and select Vlocity CME Admin. Click Vlocity CMT Administration. Under Diagnostics, click Validate Data Setup for Standard Cart API.

Use the Enhanced Rapid Attribute Configuration Feature

Sales representatives can save time with easier updates to multiple attributes of products in the cart. Rapid attribute configuration allows reps to quickly assign multiple attributes to products without evaluating rules and pricing for each change. For attributes without any rules associated, the Update button is now disabled because such updates don't need rule verification, and for attributes with rules associated, the Update button is enabled. Sales reps can then click Sync to refresh and reflect an updated cart.

Where: These changes are available in Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Developer, Performance, and Unlimited editions with Enterprise Sales Management.

How: These changes are automatically enabled.

Accelerate Product Innovation with Product Versioning

Help sales reps save time and increase accuracy when quoting. Make it easier for sales reps to view up-to-date product versions in the product catalog and cart. Use the versioning feature so sales reps can see product versions on the product catalog and working cart pages in both guided and classic journeys. They can also see product versions of quote line items on the Summary tab of the enterprise quote page. Product versioning ensures that the correct versions of quote line items are in the cart when your sales reps add new products or perform Add, Change, and Delete operations on existing assets.

Where: This change is available in Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Developer, Performance, and Unlimited editions with Enterprise Sales Management.

How: To use the versioning feature in Product Designer and CPQ, update the product data and enable the feature.

Use Components Now Provided in the Managed Package and Communications-Cloud GitHub Repository

Some components that were previously accessible to you as static resources in your Salesforce org are now provided within the Salesforce Industries Communications, Media, and Energy (CME) package and the Communications-Cloud GitHub repository. The update makes it easier to track changes and manage deployments of these components.

Where: This change is available in Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Developer, Performance, and Unlimited editions with Enterprise Sales Management.

Some classes are no longer accessible as static resources.

  • These classes are now available in the CME managed package.

  • These classes are now available in the Communications-Cloud GitHub repository.

New Default Value for the GuestHandlingEnabled Setting

The GuestHandlingEnabled setting enhances security while allowing guest users. In the CME managed package, the default setting doesn’t accommodate guest users. But if you want to allow guest users, you can change the setting to true. This gives you more control over who can access your system, keeping things more secure.

To enable this feature, you’ll need to manually change the GuestHandlingEnabled setting to true. This applies to all editions where the CME managed package is installed. You can decide whether to use the feature based on your specific needs.

This change applies to all editions where the Communications, Media, and Energy (CME) managed package is installed.
