Core Responsibilities Are the Foundation for Best Practices

Each one of the five core responsibilities can be met by learning best practices and continually refining them. Focusing on best practices is more effective than relying on Tips & Tricks or hacks. Much of the content available to admins is geared toward quick tips—shortcuts discovered in the moment to complete tasks faster. However, these tips often aren’t repeatable or applicable in a wide range of scenarios, meaning you might use them once and then never again.

In contrast, best practices are proven, repeatable strategies that can be applied across various situations. For example, when you’re young, you’re taught to look both ways before crossing the street. This universal approach ensures your safety, no matter where you are or which side of the road people drive on. Similarly, adopting and continually refining best practices in your role ensures your success, regardless of the specific circumstances you face.

That’s why it’s best to approach your responsibilities through the lens of mastering best practices—building foundational skills that help you excel in any scenario.

AI and Emerging Technologies

It’s essential you pay attention to emerging technologies like AI and tools like Agentforce because the role of the Salesforce admin is rapidly evolving to incorporate these advancements. Low-code Salesforce tooling has expanded significantly over the past decade to include generative AI and Data Cloud, with the goal of empowering admins to become influential tech leaders in the AI era.

As the Salesforce ecosystem continues to grow, so too does your role as a Salesforce admin. More admins now work in IT and are expected to be proficient in automation. To support this shift, Salesforce now offers tools like Agentforce that further automate tasks, boost efficiency, and support various workflows, all while working within existing security protocols. You can tailor Agentforce abilities through custom actions, ranging from text-to-speech conversions to integrations with third-party systems. By staying informed about AI and emerging technologies, you can better support your organization and stay ahead of the curve.

In the units that follow, you learn best practices that you can implement on a schedule that works for the pace of your organization. Once you understand the core responsibilities, review these practices, and learn how to structure your time effectively, you can start building your own roadmap for success. Be sure to review the resources in each unit to round out your learning and ensure you have the knowledge needed to deliver on your core responsibilities.
