Change Existing Contract Number

Question

Hello, Trailblazers! We're implementing a revised Contract Numer scheme within Salesforce. (We have modified the auto-numbering set-up accordingly.) How do we manually change the existing Contract Numbers to follow this new scheme?

Hi John,

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to change the salesforce.com generated contract ID.

You can hide the Standard Contract Number field for all searchs, related list and list views and instead use the standard "Contract Name" field. The contract name is a standard Object name field which you can populate text and numbers and also acts as the standard URL lookup funtionionality
