The Lead/Contact Object has stumped me.  We are dealing with not being able to have 100% visability into our sales cycle and this is because we have a huge Contact database so Marketo is writing updates to Contacts rather than creating Leads.  Everything I find states that Contacts are people you do business with.  This can not be true 100% of the time.  When a Lead is converted to an Opportunity it becomes an Account and a Contact.  If all Contacts are people you do business with that would mean you win 100% of the Opps.  That is just not the case.  

 

What is best practices when it comes to existing Contacts yet obtaining a "New Lead" off these existing Contacts?  How do I then track the total conversion rate of new "Leads" especially when I have half this infomation residing on the Lead level?

    How do you actually create a lead from summertime who is already a contract?   I don't see a way to do this but perhaps I don't have something turned on?
