how do i "approve" somebody when I invite them to a group

I set up a confidential group and one of the invitees cannot set up his follower profile because it tells him that he needs to be approved. I am the admin for this group but I have no emails or any alerts that say I have to approve. What gives?

If there is a private group, others can "Ask to Join", or you can add them directly by going to the group and adding them as a member.   This person likely "Asked to Join", so you can cilck to the group page, and to this group, and then accept their request.
