Student success drives institutional success. And student success goes way beyond the individual learner–it truly is a group effort. It depends on the effectiveness of everyone at your institution, including faculty, advisors, coordinators, and many others.

Student Success Hub for Higher Education makes it easier for staff members across departments and functions to come together as a cohesive group working toward that common goal. It helps your staff help students by:

  • Defining who is responsible for guiding each student toward success
  • Outlining specific tasks and responsibilities in service of student goals
  • Providing resources and tools to monitor and assist with student progress

Success Teams

We briefly touched on success teams in the previous unit, and here we discuss them in a bit more detail. Generally speaking, a success team is a group of individuals who support a student. At your institution, this may include faculty members, academic advisors, career coaches, financial aid counselors, and other support staff.

In Student Success Hub, success teams consist of individual staff members who are assigned to specific students, and the student record lists all the members of a student’s success team. This not only makes it easy for staff to quickly see who to collaborate with regarding a particular student, but also clearly tells students who to go for help with something.

We know that these kinds of designations can’t always happen on an individual basis, though, so Student Success Hub has support pools, case teams, and queue management features that let you configure a support model that makes sense for your institution.

However you choose to organize your support model, staff members at all levels and departments are empowered to guide students’ success.

Note

Student Success Hub’s features can vary based on your specific configuration.

Faculty

Since they tend to get the most face time with students, faculty members are in a good position to observe trends and raise alerts to the success team when they think a student might need attention.

Student Success Hub’s faculty home page lets you see an overview of your courses and student progress at a glance. You can sort student records by grade and raise alerts for anyone falling behind with just a couple of clicks.

The faculty home page has course sections with students and grades, as well as a section for tracking submitted alerts.

The alerts flow to the students’ assigned academic advisors, who can then schedule appointments or offer other support. The alerts can also automatically send emails to let the students know their advisor will be reaching out and remind them of office hour windows in case they have any questions about course content.

You can follow up on alerts directly from your home page. And you can go into a student’s contact record for even more information. That’s where you can find a list of all the members of their success team and read notes on their progress.

Advisors

With such a significant breadth and depth of workload, advisors need a comprehensive and flexible space for collaborating, keeping track of student information, managing calendars and appointments, and prioritizing tasks. Student Success Hub’s advisor dashboard provides all of that and more.

The advisor dashboard provides snapshots of task, alert, and scheduling data that you can click on for more detailed information.

The advisor dashboard (or console) is more than just an at-a-glance overview. It can take you just about anywhere you need to go, whether you need more information or want to act. With just a few clicks, you can adjust your schedule, get an overview of urgent outstanding tasks, send a message to a colleague, or check in on a particular student’s progress, and more.

Senior Leadership

While Student Success Hub helps students at an individual level by bringing depth of understanding to success teams, it also helps institutions and departments at an organization-wide level by bringing depth of data insight to leaders.

Student Success Hub for Higher Education provides a sample dashboard and a set of underlying sample reports and custom report types that help support managers see trends around student needs and provide insight into their teams' workloads. Managers can track open alerts and tasks for entire teams, monitor student caseloads, and keep track of the most common appointment topics.

The Student Success Hub Tableau Accelerator makes your collective data even more compelling and easy to understand by adding visualizations you can click for more granular detail.

An Appointment by Topic and Subtopic line graph can illustrate trends in student concerns.

Note

You need to connect Salesforce to Tableau in order to use the Student Success Hub Tableau Accelerator. If you’re new to Tableau, you can get started by purchasing at least one Tableau Creator license or starting a free 14-day trial (linked in Resources).

And of course, the reports and dashboards in Student Success Hub are highly flexible and configurable. So you can put the most relevant information front and center to make your data work for you.

In addition to the wealth of data and insight it brings to folks internal to your institution, Student Success Hub for Higher Education provides the tools you need to create an engaging experience for your students. Find out more about that in the next unit.
