Create Marketing Cloud Intelligence Pages
Let’s dive deeper into Marketing Cloud Intelligence, and learn how to display your data and customize your pages, so you can create insightful, comprehensive collections.
Pages segment your collections so you can divide up your data according to your preferences, such as products, campaigns, or social platforms. Each page can be customized and filtered so you can modify the design and remove any unwanted data.
There are a few ways you can add a new page:
Use Add New
In the Visualize tab, select the collection where you want to add a new dashboard page, either from the main window or from the left pane menu, and click Add New.
Use New Page
In the Visualize tab, right-click on the collection to which you want to add a new dashboard page, from the left pane menu, and click New Page.
Use Plus (+) Icon
In the Visualize tab, when the main window display is set on thumbnails, click the + icon at the bottom of the relevant collection’s thumbnail.
A new window opens where you can select the type of page you want to add to the collection. In the next section, we cover how to add the different page options.
Create and Customize App Pages
Once you have added a new page and are in the Add New Page to Collection window, you can select the type of page you want to add. Let’s start with app pages, which are pages that display all the data generated from an installed app. With an app page, you don’t need to manually create any underlying entities or design the view, Marketing Cloud Intelligence does it all automatically. Here’s how.
- Select App Pages to create a new app page.
- Search for, or select, the app instance you want to create a page for. If you are an admin user and do not see the app you want, click Go to Marketplace for more Apps to install the app you want. If you're a power user you'll see only the apps you have access to.
- After you click on the app you want to create a page for, a new app page is automatically created.
- Once the app page is created you can edit the page by clicking the pencil icon.
Create and Customize Marketing Cloud Intelligence Blank Dashboard Pages
Now let’s add a blank dashboard page, which is a page that can be used to create visualizations of your data without any predefined settings or design. A blank dashboard can be used for anything from illustrating how campaigns are performing to creating an executive overview. Dashboard pages can be divided up according to products, campaigns, or social platforms. They are completely customizable and can be adjusted to your preferences. Here’s how.
- In the Add New Page to Collection window, select Blank Dashboard Page to create a new blank dashboard page.
- Once you have created a new blank dashboard page, click the pencil icon to enter Edit Mode.
Let’s check out the options you have in edit mode.
Name your page (1) and set the date range (2). You can also add filters to the dashboard page by clicking the Filters button (3). Within the Filters tab, you can add Page Filters (4) or Interactive FilterSets (5). Page filters enable you to filter the page by any dimension, measurement, or date dimension.
Now, expand the Page Filters tab and click Add Filter. Select the field you want to filter by. Interactive FilterSets enable you to save different views of your dashboard page by saving the selections made to the interactive filter widgets on the page. The filtersets can then be applied as a filter option within the dashboard page.
Once you finish configuring your page you can start designing it. To create an impactful page, click the Design tab and start customizing. From here you can add a Theme, change the layout, edit the background, alter the fonts, and much more. (We cover this in the next unit.) Make sure to click Save once you finish configuring and designing your page.
Save as a Dashboard Template
Once you’ve created your perfect dashboard page, you can save it as a dashboard template page. Dashboard templates allow you to replicate your dashboard pages across your collections and workspace. When you create a dashboard template, all the data and design (including theme, widgets, and filters) are cloned into the new dashboard page. Using dashboard templates helps you unify your workspace and saves you valuable time so you don’t have to create the same dashboard page from scratch.
To create a dashboard template page click on the dashboard page’s menu at the top right of the screen. Next, select Create Template, name your template, add a description if you want, and click Create Template in the create template window. You can now select this dashboard template when creating a new page.
Add and Customize Widgets
Widgets are the graphic elements that appear on the page which display your data in different ways, such as pie charts, tables, and bar graphs. The widget creation process is streamlined so you can build your widget in just three steps.
-
Data (mandatory)
-
Filter (optional)
-
Design (optional)
To add a new widget, click on the + sign and choose the type of widget you want to add. Widgets are sorted into three categories to get you started quickly.
-
Charts: Display data in various chart forms, such as bar graphs, line charts, pie charts, and maps. Once one of the categories is chosen, the default widget opens. To change categories and widget types with ease click on More.
-
Interactive: Allow users who browse the page to dynamically toggle between date ranges, measurements, and dimensions—allowing them to filter the data within the widgets on the page, without modifying it.
-
Elements: Insert static elements to the page such as rich text, videos, images, and custom widgets created using JavaScript, CSS, or HTML.
Once you’ve selected your desired widget, click the + sign to add data to it. Select the measurements and dimensions you want to display.
You can easily recognize whether an item is a measurement, dimension, or date by its icon, measurements are marked as, dimensions asand dates as . Filtered measurements are annotated as, calculated measurements and dimensions are marked as, and harmonized dimensions are marked as. You see real-time changes in the widget as you add your data.
Next, you have the option to add or edit filters. Filters allow you to remove any unwanted data depending on the criteria you set. To view the filters applied to the page and add filters to a widget, select the Filters tab (1). Then click + Add Filter (2) to add a new filter. Here you can also alter the date range (3) and the sorting of the data (4), such as showing the top 20 results or displaying the data in ascending order.
Now you have the option to customize the design of your widget, by clicking on the Design tab. This is where you tailor the appearance of specific widgets on your dashboard page, such as modifying the background, fonts, and grid.
