This is usually the hands-on org provisioning step timing out rather than an issue with your training progress. A few things that typically fix it: 1) Wait it out - the "setting things up" screen can legitimately take 10-15 min on a busy day, avoid refreshing. 2) Check your Trailhead Playground/org limits in your profile - if you're at the cap, delete an old unused hands-on org and reconnect. 3) Try an incognito window or clear cookies - stale session tokens for the connected org commonly cause the connect flow to hang. 4) Disable ad blockers/privacy extensions, which can block the OAuth redirect. 5) Check status.salesforce.com for provisioning incidents. If it's still stuck after 48 hours, file a Trailhead Help case at help.salesforce.com/s/support so support can reset the org connection for that module.
