We have had the email address field customised by a third party and after testing have found this field to only be available to the user once they have created a new contact, in other words it's blank when creating a new contact. However this only happens when logged in as a user. If i log in as an admin I don't have this problem. Can you suggest anything in the permissions I could look to change? I'm trying to avoid having to over customise this for it to work.

    If it is not editable on creation, then how does it get populated? does it fetch values from some other object? May be it is a formula field.
