How can I reference a long text area field on another object?

I am wanting to have a text field on the Account page displayed, as a read only field if possible, in our custom Object. I tried creating it as a formula, however, when I check the syntax it says "Error: You referenced an unsupported field type called "Long Text Area" using the following field: Additional_Notes_for_Temp_Assignments__c".

I read that the formula size limit can contain up to 3,900 characters so I set my long text field in the Account to have a limit of 3,000 characters, but that did not help and I received the same syntax message.

Any suggestions on how I can have this long text field displayed on another object?
