How do I add a picklist value to an existing picklist?

I need to add picklist value but I don't have 'new' option when I edit the picklist. Is there a way to do this or do I need to delete the field and create a whole new field?

Clickpath to add a picklist value to an existing picklist in a Custom Object:  Setup / Build|Customize|Objects / click on the  Object Label  (ex:  “Positions”) / scroll down to  Custom Fields & Relationships  click on the  Field Label  of the picklist to be updated (ex:  “Location”) / scroll down to  Values  /  New .
