I am the Executive Director of a nonprofit called Taia Development Programme-TDP. We are operating in the rural community in Moyamba district, Southern Province, Sierra Leone. Our strategic plans for 2021 are; looking for rapid COVID-19 respond fund for the resilient building of 100 vulnerable rural women and young girls in subsistence farming who have been adversely affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic
We are also looking for funding support to increase awareness on the prevention of child marriage and teenage pregnancy in the three chiefdom in the Moyamba district. The COVID-19 pandemic poses a lot of treat to the girl child education in the Moyamba district, Sierra Leone. The global COVID-19 pandemic increased child marriages and teenage pregnancy in the district.
Our organization want to embark on robust awareness raising campaign on the effect of child marriages and teenage pregnancy such as early drop out of schools, obstetric fistula, cervical cancer, HIV/AIDS, premature births and increases infants and maternal mortality rate.
There are also other social problems caused by child marriage and teenage pregnancy such as poverty, gender based violence, gender inequality etc.
We are looking for partners to work with us in these two areas of 2021 work plan.
