Issue with Duplicate Rule

Question

I have a duplicate rule on a field and when a duplicate is entered it just doesnt allow the reocrd to be save - the error is not shown. If there is no duplicate the record can be saved. I have set the rule to be Allow on Create and on Edit

while creating a duplicate rule have ypu selected the option to fire and message when a duplicate is found.If not

Select which action will occur when a user tries to save a duplicate record.

If the action includes an alert to users, we’ll provide default alert text that you can customize. Only the Allow action includes the report option.
