Does anyone know where there is a reliable WMS that would show hurricane data like the attached map? I've found a few weblinks that give storm or weather but not hurricane. I would like to get a version that shows the cone like the attached with the inner rings but a version that just has the full cone would still work.

Also since that is a website and we would be using tableau public, is it just a matter of refreshing it to pick up the latest storm movement?

Thank you.

You could use the following site:

    https://www.weather.gov/gis/cloudgiswebservices

The WMS/WMTS URL that you need to use in Tableau for Tropical weather data will be:

    https://mapservices.weather.noaa.gov/tropical/services/tropical/NHC_tropical_weather/MapServer/WMSServer?request=GetCapabilities&service=WMS

Unfortunately though, when using their WMS it will cause the default map of the United States to disappear, as their map is then in use; however, if that occurs, be sure to set the Marks Type in the Marks Card as filled map. That should bring it back.

Also, the projection of the map for the United States will change, because the WMS overrides the existing/default mapping projection - so it may look odd (see below). There are numerous WMS settings in the feed, so you'll probably want to investigate the first URL in this reply for any documentation.

You could use the following site: https://www.weather.gov/gis/cloudgiswebservices The WMS/WMTS URL that you need to use in Tableau for Tropical weather data will be:https://mapservices.weather.noaa.Then adjust as needed from the myriad of options from the WMS

Screenshot 2024-10-05 at 5.43.54 PMLastly, its a limited approach in that there aren't direct color adjustments available, you can adjust the opacity of the WMS result in that same dialog by using the Washout (%) option at the very top to reduce the intensity though. Hope that helps!

    UPDATED 10/7/24:

Using the same initial website for National Weather Service - Cloud GIS Services, would suggest using the following WMS which summarizes the output a bit better, having less options to choose from for a better experience.

Tropical Weather Summary WMS: WMS/WMTS or

    https://mapservices.weather.noaa.gov/tropical/services/tropical/NHC_tropical_weather_summary/MapServer/WMSServer?request=GetCapabilities&service=WMS

Which when using these settings in the Map Background Layer Options dialog:
