I was getting an error " The IP address of your device from which you are trying to access Salesforce is not allowed by your Salesforce administrator. You may have changed locations or networks since you logged in. For help,please contact the Salesforce administrator at your company. " even it solved without manual intervention but i want to know the cause as I checked my login history it is showing success and I did not connect to the VPN as I am working from my office still not able to understand why i got the error

Please check the session setting
- Setting IP ranges in the Session Settings restricts access, and Users will only be able to log in from the IP addresses listed.
Profile-Based IP Restrictions (Available in Enterprise, Unlimited, Developer)
- You can set IP Restriction under each profile. This will restrict access, and Users will only be able to log in from the IP addresses listed.
Network Access (available for all editions)
- Setting trusted IP ranges under Setup | Security | Network Access
