We want our partners to start using our Salesforce org for their sales - mainly creating and submitting their opportunities.

What is the best way to make that happen? I only see two options:

  1. Give each of the partners a SF account with visibility/rights restrictions enabled.
  2. Use a partner community. (Would the partners be able to be restricted to objects for which they are owners? I believe these licenses are cheaper than SF licenses.)

Are there other options?  Do you have any suggestions/insight?

Thanks!

Yours is a perfect case for a Partner Community.  The per-user cost is much less than full Salesforce licenses, and you can expose only the features/records you want your Partners to access -- and also gives you a place to share info with your Partners and -- if you want, let's your partners submit Cases, Ideas, or share discussions in Chatter Groups.
