Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Grant permissions to translate surveys.
  • Translate a survey.

Turn Surveys from Local to Global

Ursa Major Solar is a supplier of solar components and systems. Its ready-to-go solar solutions division is expanding its customer base to different parts of the world, but receiving case feedback from its non-English speaking customers hasn’t been easy. Gabriela Livingston, Ursa Major Solar’s top sales operations specialist, wants to set up an initiative that ensures its customers across the globe receive a translated version of the Customer Satisfaction survey on case closure. Customer Satisfaction is an out-of-the-box survey provided by Salesforce Surveys.

To translate the survey, Gabriela needs access to the Translation Workbench in her Salesforce org. The Translation Workbench lets users specify which languages they want to translate their surveys into and assign translators. She reaches out to Maria Jimenez, the Salesforce admin, to get the correct permissions.

Enable Surveys and Allow Users to Translate Surveys

The first language Gabriela wants to translate the survey into is Spanish. Later, she plans to translate the survey into other languages.

Maria knows that Gabriela can view surveys. To enable Gabriela to translate the survey into Spanish, Maria activates the Spanish language and gives Gabriela the permission to translate the survey into it.

  1. Click Setup and select Setup.
  2. Enter Survey in the Quick Find box.
  3. Click Survey Settings.
  4. Enable Surveys.
  5. In the Quick Find box, enter Translation Language Settings.
  6. Click Translation Language Settings.
  7. On the Translation Language Settings page, if it’s not already enabled, click Enable.
  8. On the Translation Workbench panel, click Edit for Spanish.
  9. Click Active.
  10. In the Identify Translators for this Language section, add users. Maria selects Gabriela Livingston. You can select the users you want to add.
  11. Click Save.
Note

Users assigned one of the following profiles only need permission in the Translation Workbench to translate: standard user, system administrator, contract manager, and marketing user. For users assigned other profiles, they must be provided Read permission on the Survey object.

Translate Your Surveys

Now that Gabriela has permission to translate the survey using the Translation Workbench, here’s how she translates the Customer Satisfaction survey into Spanish.

  1. From the App Launcher, find and select Surveys.
  2. Select the survey that needs to be translated. Gabriela selects Customer Satisfaction.
  3. Click the Languages tab. Gabriela sees that she has the option to translate the survey into Spanish.
  4. Click Translate next to the language you want to translate the survey to. The Translate Surveys dialog box opens.
  5. Translate the survey name and the pause message.
    • Survey Name: Satisfacción de los cliente
    • Pause Message: Para seguir donde lo dejó, actualice esta página o vuelva a abrir la encuesta.
  6. Click Save & Next.
  7. Translate the questions and answer choices on the first page. Maria enters:
    • First question: ¿Cómo calificaría nuestro servicio?
    • Enter the following choices:
      • Malo
      • 2
      • 3
      • 4
      • Bueno
    • Second question: ¿Algún comentario o comentario para nosotros?

The second page of the Translate Survey dialog box.

  1. Click Save & Next.
  2. Translate the thank you message: ¡Gracias por participar!
  3. Click Save & Finish.

Gabriela has translated the survey so Ursa Solar Major’s customers can view the Customer Satisfaction survey in English or Spanish. If the survey participant is a member of Ursa Solar Major’s org, the survey opens in the default language set by the participant.

Next, we look at how Gabriella automates survey invitations for cases.
