My role has changed every year, as has the company, so there’s never been a dull moment or lack of new challenges to tackle.
How did you get into Salesforce?
After several marketing roles in the US and Australia, I took an Office Manager role in the US with an engineering company where I had Salesforce thrown in my lap. I was asked to “figure out if we should use it or get something else”. This is where I started my Salesforce admin journey that eventually led to a job with Salesforce as a Customer Success Manager in our Sydney offices back in 2007. Despite being with Salesforce for 9 years, my role has changed every year, as has the company, so there’s never been a dull moment or lack of new challenges to tackle.
When did you first learn about Trailhead?
I got the opportunity to deliver the Admin Keynote for our Advantage Tour and World Tour events here in Australia about a year ago. The Admin Marketing team introduced me to Trailhead through their content and once I started blazing trails, I couldn’t stop.
What motivated you to learn through Trailhead?
The Trailhead personality fits me to a tee and keeps me coming back for more. I really appreciate the diversity of content on Trailhead and the ability to pick and choose what I feel like tackling at that given moment. I also love the fun way the Trailhead team writes the content, I mean who doesn’t love a good pun!
Anyone who uses their passion to elevate their career, share knowledge with others, or simply try something new is a Trailblazer to me.
How do you make time for Trailhead?
I get this question a lot. It really helped when my husband travelled for a few weeks and I would use my evenings to do badges. I also commute on the train and I can do badges in transit from my phone. The modules are so consumable it’s easy to find time!
How do you stay motivated to continue learning?
It really isn’t hard to stay motivated to use Trailhead. Salesforce is constantly growing, evolving and adding new functionality and it’s something I need to stay on top of. Trailhead has given me a fun, social and fast way to do this so no twisting of arms needed.
What does being a Trailblazer mean to you?
I think being a Trailblazer to me is synonymous with the word passion. Find what you are passionate about and then you have the true motivation to go further. Anyone who uses their passion to elevate their career, share knowledge with others, or simply try something new is a Trailblazer to me.
What's your favorite Trailhead pun?
I got the community badge for the Melbourne World Tour event which had a picture of a koala on it. When you received the badge, it said “Congratulations, you have all the necessary koalifications for this limited edition badge”. LOL
