I’m learning to code through Trailhead which is quite exciting.
What do you love most about Trailhead?
Trailhead is as interactive as it can get with online training. Learning from all the different angles (reading, videos, quizzes, and hands-on experience within your org) makes complicated or new concepts click so much faster than just reading about them. When learning Wave Analytics for instance, you can use real data sets in Trailhead which means once you’ve gotten hands-on with Wave for the first time you don’t just know about it, you understand it.
What is your biggest #TrailheadWin?
My biggest win is learning the foundations of how to code which has informed my talk at Dreamforce, “From No Code to Lightning Components Developer”. If you are new to coding on the platform, watch my session first to learn from my experience so you're prepared to work through the module. Basically that module is pretty challenging if you don't have a coding background. I'm pleased I powered through, but it took me 3 to 4 times longer to complete than estimated. It was also a bit mind-bending in places, but definitely worth it. Besides coding, I’m also excited about improving my soft skills with trails like the Cultivate Equality at Work trail which taught me about diversity strategies and unconscious bias.
How do you make time for Trailhead?
Scheduling time for Trailhead everyday would not work for me like it works for others. Because Trailhead is very much an on-demand learning platform, I like that I can pick it up whenever it fits into my schedule. In a couple of clicks I can see whether I’m up-to-date on a particular topic such as Lightning. If not, I dig right in and start learning.

What advice do you have for new Trailblazers?
Don’t be intimidated by how many badges there are on Trailhead! Warm up with some of the shorter modules to get you started. Get into a trailblazing routine that works for your busy schedule. And have fun! Keep an eye out for the special badges that are released for a limited time throughout the year.

It’s time to start your own story.
