Help Your Users Be More Productive

Introduction

Now that we have a fully customized Sales Console app for our pilot, let’s talk about some of the features that make Lightning Experience more productive for your users. In this step, we’ll take a look at some things you should train your users on. Users will be able to analyze data in their views without creating a report, and will be able to answer real-time analytical questions.

Discover the Power of List Views in Lightning Experience

List views in Lightning Experience have many new features to explore. List View Charts help to visualize list view data. There are three types of charts: vertical bar, horizontal bar, and donut. When you create a list view chart for an object, such as Opportunities or Leads, the chart is associated with the object. Starting in the Sales Console app, let’s see how users can create a List View Chart.

  1. Click the App Launcher App Launcher icon .
  2. Enter Leads in the Search apps and items... box and select Leads.
  3. Click the down arrow next to Recently Viewed and click All Open Leads.
  4. Click the chart icon Chart icon  to open charts.
Note: If you don’t see the charts icon, click the word Leads at the top to expand the Leads window.
  5. Click the gear icon Gear icon underneath the current chart.
  6. Click New Chart and add the following information.
    Field
    Value
    Chart Name
    Leads by Status
    Chart Type
    Vertical Bar Chart
    Aggregate Type
    Count
    Aggregate Field
    Lead ID
    Grouping Field
    Lead Status
  7. Click Save.

Users can make quick work of updating records using the inline editing option. Let’s take a look.

  1. In the navigation bar, click the down arrow next to the object list, and click Opportunities.
  2. Click the down arrow next to Recently Viewed and click All Opportunities.
  3. Click the check box next to Burlington Textiles Weaving Plant Generator, Dickenson Mobile Generators, Edge Emergency Generator (both of them), Edge Installation, and Edge SLA.
  4. Hover over the Close Date for Dickenson Mobile Generators and click the pencil icon.
  5. Change the date to next Friday’s date (ensure it is for this year), then check the Update 6 selected items box.
  6. Click Apply, then click Save at the bottom of the screen.

The Kanban view displays a visual summary for a selection of records. By seeing all their records at once, sales reps can more effectively monitor their work and keep deals moving forward. Kanban also encourages transparency of work items. With Kanban, when a team or a rep completes a stage, a card is moved to the next stage, indicating completion. Here is what it looks like.

The All Opportunities Kanban view.

Let’s take a look at how your sales team can use Kanban.

  1. Click the down arrow next to the table icon and select Kanban. The Kanban view displays a visual summary for a selection of records. Switch to the Kanban view for almost any object from the object’s list view.
  2. In the Id. Decision Makers stage, hover over the GenePoint Lab Generators box, then click and drag it to Perception Analysis.
  3. On the list view controls icon List view controls button click the down arrow and click Kanban Settings.
