Filter the Report

Add a Filter to the Report

As it stands, Ada’s report shows data on all of Ursa Major Solar’s cases. Her new sales reps have been working exclusively with cases in the energy industry, so she wants to filter out cases from other industries.

Let’s filter the report so that it only includes cases from the energy industry.

  1. Click Reports, then find your Cases by Status report and click Edit.
  2. To open the Filters pane, click Filters.
  3. Change the Units standard filter to Days and then click Apply.
  4. From the Add filter... lookup, search for and select Industry.
  5. Set the operator to equals and the value to Energy.
  6. Click Apply, then Save & Run.

Now the report shows cases only from the energy industry. Ada sees that of the 11 applicable cases, all but 2 are closed. Her new hires are on top of their game!

Lock Filters on the Run Page

Sita asks Ada to share the report with the rest of the company. Ada thinks that’s a good idea, but she doesn’t want other people to edit the report filters while running the report. To prevent viewers from changing the filter settings, she can lock the filter.

  1. Click Reports, then find your Cases by Status report and click Edit.
  2. To open the Filters pane, click Filters.
  3. Click the filter Industry equals Energy and select Locked.
  4. Click Apply.
  5. Click Save & Run.
  6. From the report run page, click Filters icon. Notice that the Industry equals Energy filter is now locked and can’t be edited from the run page.
