Add Knowledge to the Community Using Topics

Set Navigational Topics

You enabled topics earlier in this project. Now set up three topics that Category 1 Biking has chosen as top topics for their community: Social Groups, New Products, and Customer Support. You update those from Community Workspaces.

  1. Click Setup icon and select Service Setup.
  2. Enter All Communities in Quick Find, then select All Communities.
  3. Next to Category 1 Biking, click Workspaces.
  4. Select the Content Management tile.

  5. Click Topics.
  6. Select Navigational Topics.
  7. In Enter a navigational topic, enter Customer Support and click + Add.
  8. In Enter a navigational topic, enter Social Groups and click + Add.
  9. In Enter a navigational topic, enter New Products and click + Add.
  10. Click Save.

Set Featured Topics

Now set these topics as featured on your community.

  1. Select Featured Topics.
  2. Click in the Select a topic box and select Customer Support.
  3. Click + Add.
  4. Click in the Select a topic box and select Social Groups.
  5. Click + Add.
  6. Click in the Select a topic box and select New Products.
  7. Click + Add.
  8. Click Save.

Add Images to Topics

Next, add some images for each topic. Download this zip file to access images you can use for this community project. Be sure to unzip the file.

  1. Click pencil icon next to Customer Support.
  2. Click Upload thumbnail image.
  3. Select support.png from the downloaded folder. Wait for the image to display.
  4. Click Close.
  5. Click pencil icon next to Social Groups.
  6. Click Upload thumbnail image.
  7. Select groups.png from the downloaded folder. Wait for the image to display.
  8. Click Close.
  9. Click pencil icon next to New Products.
  10. Click Upload thumbnail image.
  11. Select products.png from the downloaded folder. Wait for the image to display.
  12. Click Save.

Add Topics to Articles

Finally, associate these topics with the articles you created previously in the project.

  1. Select Article Management.
  2. Click pencil icon next to When will my bike arrive?
  3. In Add Topic, begin typing Customer and then select Customer Support.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Click pencil icon next to How can I find local bike groups?
  6. In Add Topic, begin typing Social and then select Social Groups.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Click pencil icon next to When is the T-800 coming out?
  9. In Add Topic, begin typing New and then select New Products.
  10. Click Save.

Your Category 1 Biking community is cruising along. Now it’s time to switch gears and add components and branding in the next step.
