Create a Better Workflow with the Quip Document Component

Your Work, Where You Work

You already know how important collaboration is, and that it takes a team to close a deal, to launch a product, to plan an event, and to pretty much make a company successful.

Collaboration begins with sharing information. You and your team share the accounts, opportunities, and dashboards—all the data you need to get your job done. But collaboration doesn't end there. You need a shared place to synthesize all this information. A place where you can build documents and spreadsheets together. Quip is proud to be that place.

But who says that place has to be confined to one place? With the Quip Document component, you can use all of Quip's features—documents, spreadsheets, slides, chat, comments—right inside of Salesforce. It's all the collaboration you need right where you need it.

Goodbye Attachments, Hello Living Documents

Traditionally, documents are viewed as something you attach to an email or a record. You find it, click the link, and now you're in a different browser tab, or even a totally different app. So you're tabbing between windows, with your data in one, your document in the other, your email in a third. It can get distracting! And now it's 5:00 PM. Whoops.

Attachments are a recipe for distraction. Luckily, you don't need them anymore. There's a better workflow out there.

With the Quip Document component, you've got a living document right there on your Salesforce page. Just click the Quip component and start typing, commenting, chatting, and collaborating. All of Quip's features are at your fingertips, so your fingertips don't have to waste any more time clicking and switching between tabs.

  • Looking for feedback from a colleague? Don't email them, just @mention them in a comment and let them know what you need.
  • They came back with some good input? Press that Like button so they know you got it.
  • Assigning tasks? Create a checklist and @mention people in it. Those items are automatically added to their Quip task drawer. If those tasks have deadlines, just @mention a date in the task and your teammate is notified when it's coming due.
  • Need some info from the relevant Salesforce record? Hey, you're already there!

Get Creative

You now have a living document right on your Salesforce records. It’s pretty amazing. But why stop there?

  • Use multiple Quip components. Put a wiki in one column and a blank document in the other. Give your team the information they need to get started and a fresh canvas to work on.
  • Chat about work where you work. Embed a Quip chat room directly on a record. Talk to your team within the context of what you're doing. Use Quip chat features like @mentions and Bitmoji. Keep the momentum going.
  • Add Live Apps. Quip has a bevy of interactive apps that you can add directly to your documents. Manage your team's initiatives with a project tracker. Organize your tasks with a Kanban board. Scope out an account plan using the calendar app. The possibilities are endless.

Think outside the attachment. You can do a lot with Quip, and you can do even more when you add Quip to Salesforce.

Put Some Salesforce in Your Quip

The Quip Document component is a great way to put Quip in your Salesforce, but don't forget about all the fine tools you have for getting Salesforce data into Quip for on-the-go collaboration.

Open in Quip

Salesforce admins can set up records so that they include an option to Open in Quip. It's a handy way to get your Salesforce data into a Quip spreadsheet, where you can work with it using formulas and filters and other spreadsheet things.

You can choose between a one-time export of your data in its current state, or you can export it as Salesforce Live Data. That creates a view-only spreadsheet that automatically retrieves and syncs any fresh data from its Salesforce source. No more checking, comparing, and copy-pasting. Let Quip do that stuff so you can get your work done wherever you are.

Salesforce Record Live App

You can embed a live Salesforce record directly into a Quip document using the Salesforce Record Live App. Any changes made to the record in Salesforce are automatically reflected in Quip, and any updates you make to it from Quip are automatically uploaded back to Salesforce. That's the bidirectional magic of Live Apps!
