Note

Note

Einstein Search consists of three features:  Personalization, Natural Language Search, and Actionable Instant Results.  Einstein Search Personalization is a generally available feature. Natural language Search and Actionable Instant Results are beta features. These beta features are previews and aren’t part of the “Services” under your master subscription agreement with Salesforce. Use Natural Language Search and Actionable Instant Results at your sole discretion, and make your purchase decisions only on the basis of generally available products and features. Salesforce doesn’t guarantee general availability of beta features within any particular time frame or at all, and we can discontinue these features at any time. Beta features are for evaluation purposes only, not for production use. These beta features are offered as is and Salesforce has no liability for any harm or damage arising out of or in connection with it. All restrictions, Salesforce reservation of rights, obligations concerning the Services, and terms for related Non-Salesforce Applications and Content apply equally to your use of these beta features. For questions and feedback about this feature, contact TryEinsteinSearch@salesforce.com. For prerequisites and limitations, see the Resources section at the end of this module.

Get better search results with Einstein.

Searching has always been a part of life. Before the internet, people paged through the phone book to find things they needed, but it wasn’t always easy. If you owned, for example, an overly active cat, and you wanted to buy it a pair of knee-high athletic cat socks, would you look under “pet supplies”? “Animal clothes”? “Knee-high athletic socks—tiny”? Today, of course, we have search engines like Google and Yahoo! to provide us with instant answers. (Well, sort of. A Google search for “knee-high athletic socks for cats” returns knee-high socks with pictures of cats on them. Which is still pretty cool.)

Even with modern technology, we all spend too much time searching and not enough time doing . Whether we’re desperately trying to find our keys in a messy apartment, circling the block endlessly for a parking space, or trying to find a local knee-high cat sock retailer, we get frustrated by empty results, near-misses, and misleading solutions. In daily life or in business, inefficient searches mean wasted time, lowered productivity, greater inaccuracy, and increased uncertainty.

Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience contain powerful search capabilities, with results that connect users to cases to articles to accounts and beyond. But even Salesforce searching requires some elbow grease. You may still need to sort through lists to find the one item you need, set up multiple List Views, or if you’re an admin, do a lot of groundwork to ensure accurate searches. In short, regular search is powerful, but not always super smart. Not, you can say, Einstein smart.

Einstein Search brings the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to searching. So it’s:

  • Personal. Users get results that are directly tailored to their needs, no matter which role they have or which department they’re in.
  • Natural. They get those results just by asking questions in an everyday, commonsense way, not as a string of unconnected keywords.
  • Actionable. And those results lead quickly and easily to the right action, without the need to dig through heaps of data.

What’s more, there’s no additional cost for Einstein Search. It’s included with Lightning Experience with several editions of Salesforce. Knee-high athletic cat socks cost more to get than Einstein Search.

Note

Note

Einstein Search is currently available with Professional, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions.

Ah, you think… what if I don’t want tailored search results? What if I want those long, extensive, varied search results that default search delivers? No worries—Einstein Search doesn’t discard results or filter them away. They’re still there if you need them.

But the bottom line is this: Einstein Search makes searches faster, easier, and more accurate. That makes users more productive. In fact, analysis shows that Einstein Search can boost productivity up to 50% (see the blogs linked under Resources). And that saves time and money.

But enough yakkin’. Let’s take a closer look at the three features of Einstein Search.
