Comment on Views

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you'll be able to:

  • Comment on a view and tag others.
  • Delete a comment in the view.
  • Include a snapshot of the view in the comment.

Comments can help people understand the data they’re looking at. Comments can provide context and also let you share a conversation about data discoveries with other Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud users. The ability to view, add, and delete comments is dependent on the permissions you have, which are usually set by the site administrator. If you have the appropriate permissions, the Comments button is available.

Watch the video to learn how to collaborate with your coworkers on views by adding comments. The quiz at the end of this unit asks questions about the content of this video. Be sure to watch the video so you get the information you need to answer the questions.

Note: Tableau Online is now known as Tableau Cloud.

Get to Know the Trailhead Simulator

Now that you know about adding comments to views in Tableau Cloud, it’s time to try it out using the Trailhead Simulator. Before you get started, familiarize yourself with the Trailhead Simulator for Tableau Cloud. (If you’ve completed other Tableau modules in Trailhead, there’s a good chance you’re already familiar with the Trailhead Simulator.) You use the simulator instead of a Trailhead Playground to follow along and try out the steps.

For the best experience, view the Trailhead Simulator on a computer, not a mobile device. The Trailhead Simulator is different from a Trailhead Playground. The simulator doesn’t store your progress or the data you enter. If you close your browser, the simulation starts from the beginning each time you launch it. You can use the navigation controls at the bottom of the simulator to find where you left off.
