Set Up B2B Marketing Analytics

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Enable Analytics.
  • Create a permission set.
  • Assign a permission set.

Over at Get Cloudy Consulting, Leung is ready to set up B2B Marketing Analytics. Get Cloudy is already using a verified Salesforce-Pardot connector, but let’s see how she confirms the version of a connector and verifies it.

If you need any more help with this, head over to the Salesforce & Pardot Integration module before you continue.

Leung’s ready to prep her org to work with Tableau CRM.

  1. From Salesforce Setup, under Administer, click Analytics | Getting Started. If you see statistics and usage cards on this page, skip to step 3.
  2. Click Enable Analytics.
  3. In the Analytics menu, click Settings.
  4. Under the Enable Data Sync and Connections checkbox, open and read the help article Understand What Happens When You Enable Data Sync and Connections.
  5. When ready, select Enable Data Sync and Connections, and then click Save.

For best results, schedule your future data sync operations in Tableau CRM Analytics Studio.

Create Permission Sets

Now that Leung has set up Tableau CRM, she needs to create permission sets. She wants to make sure that her consultants can manage and view data so she creates two permission sets.

  1. In the Setup menu, under Administer, click Manage Users | Permission Sets and then click New.
  2. For the first permission set, enter Manage Analytics in the Label field.
  3. For License, select the Analytics Embedded App permission set license and then click Save
    • When you select a specific permission set license, any user assigned to the permission set is auto-assigned the permission set license. If you select --None--, you must manually assign the permission set license to users before you can add them to the new permission set.
  4. On the new permission set page, click Edit, and select these system permissions.
    • Create and Edit Tableau CRM Dashboard
    • Create B2B Marketing Analytics Apps
    • Download Tableau CRM Data
    • Edit Tableau CRM Dataflows
    • Edit Dataset Recipes
    • Manage Tableau CRM Templated Apps
    • Upload External Data to Tableau CRM
    • Use Tableau CRM
    • Use Tableau CRM Templated Apps
  5. For the second permission set, enter View Analytics in the Label field and select the Analytics Embedded App in the License dropdown.
  6. On the new permission page, click Edit, and select these user permissions.
    • Create B2B Marketing Analytics Apps
    • Use Tableau CRM
    • Use Tableau CRM Templated Apps

Assign Permission Sets

Leung’s now ready to assign the permission sets to users. She follows the rule of least privilege, to make sure only the people who need to create new apps get the Manage Analytics permission set.

  1. In the Setup menu, under Administer, click Manage Users | Permission Sets.
  2. Open Manage Analytics, and then click Manage Assignments.
  3. Click Add Assignments, select the users who will create and delete Tableau CRM apps, and then click Done.
  4. Back on the Permission Sets page, open the View Analytics permission set, and then click Manage Assignments.
  5. Select the users who need only viewing access to Tableau CRM, and click Done. When Leung assigns this permission set to users, Salesforce auto-assigns the Analytics Cloud-Analytics Platform permission set license to those users.

Now that Leung has set up and enabled Tableau CRM, she’s ready to begin importing data! Awesome work!
