The clicks don't filter the source sheet, only the target sheet, even though I've tried selecting all source and target sheets in some combination or another. Is there a way to change or fix this?

Try to unselect the Fix Map button that appears on the top left hand corner when you hover over the map.
Once the pin icon does not show the X mark on it, then you should see the map zooming into the area selected.
