Custom Field: Sum of a field across all campaign member records for a contact

I have added a custom number field on the campaign member record: unit_count_c

I need to sum the numbers on all the campaign member records a contact has. Ideally, I would use roll-up summary, but I can't do this on a contact.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
