As part of our business process, we need to relate particular activities at the quote level but also need to report on this activity at the opportunity level. Unfortunately, despite the quote being a child of this opportunity, the activity is not listed against the opportunity even though it is technically a 'grand-child'. Does anyone know how this activity can be connected back up the hierarchy so I can report in relation to opportunity fields? This activity is logged against the account so don't understand why it isn't connected to the opportunity.

You can ask to have custom lookups turned on for activities, it's in pilot right now

This will allow you to associate it to multiple records at once. I'm actually surpried the Opportunity doesn't inherit them like Accounts do with Contact tasks...
