Explore TPE Dashboards for Historical Data

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Describe how dashboards improve data analysis for key account managers (KAMs).
  • Describe TPE dashboards that can be embedded in Lightning Experience pages.
  • Create another version of Trade Promotion Effectiveness (TPE).

Insights at a Glance

Going through dozens of spreadsheets to find the data you need is a difficult task. What’s even tougher? Accurately measuring KPIs and gaining insights into what’s working and what isn’t with your promotions. KAMs need a bird’s-eye view of their promotion data to understand past performance and make meaningful improvements to their strategies.

The Trade Promotion Effectiveness app includes dashboards that show historical data for tactic, product, or account performance. These dashboards help KAMs understand past business trends, find out what tactics worked and what didn’t, and plan future promotions. You can embed and access the dashboards in Lightning Experience pages.

KAMs can filter the promotion data for sales orgs and accounts and get relevant insights. For more information, see Embed Analytics for Trade Promotion Effectiveness. For template dashboards, you can change the KPIs based on the configuration in Trade Promotion Management.

Embed Dashboards in Lightning Experience Pages

The TPE app includes dashboards that you can embed in Lightning Experience pages, such as Tactic Performance, Product Performance, Account Performance Summary, Account Participation Analysis, and Volume Planning. Let’s find out more about each.

Tactic Performance

KAMs use tactics, such as price cuts or advertising, in a promotion to boost sales and brand recognition. Embed the Tactic Performance dashboard on the Promotional Details page to evaluate tactic performance for KPIs like spend. Track actual total spend and planned fixed spend for each tactic and get a quick view of the sales performance.

Product Performance

Embed the Product Performance dashboard on the Promotional Details page to evaluate product performance for KPIs such as revenue. And view the actual total volume for each product to track performance.

Account Performance Summary

A retail store can be considered an account in Consumer Goods Cloud. KAMs analyze the sales volume for products placed in a store at the end of a promotion, which gives them a clear picture of the store or the account’s performance. Embed the Account Performance Summary dashboard on the Customer Business Plan page to get a comprehensive view of the sales volume generated for products in a store. Analyze the promotion’s impact on the sales volume and view key insights, such as target volume, planned total volume, actual total volume, and the performance of each product in the promotion.

Account Participation Analysis and Volume Planning

A retail store chain like NTO can have many stores in a location, and each store is an account for a manufacturer like Alpine Group. Sales managers can plan a promotion for some of these accounts, which helps them to get a quick update about accounts participating in a promotion. Embed the Account Participation Analysis dashboard on the Promotional Details page for a comprehensive overview of participating and non-participating accounts. Gain insights to identify accounts without product displays or low-quality product placement. In addition, access competitor analysis and compliance metrics for efficient insights.

Volume is another metric that’s important to KAMs.

The Volume Planning dashboard.

With the Volume Planning dashboard, compare actual and planned sales volume and revenue. Gain insights into the average uplift per discount percentage or the average return on investment per discount percentage.

Now, you've got a good idea of how each dashboard empowers KAMs to measure and improve promotion effectiveness. Next, check out how to create other versions of TPE in CG Cloud.

Create Another Version of TPE

Sales managers and team members can use different versions of TPE according to the account, sales org, or products they are working with. So how do you create another version of the TPE app? Using Analytics Studio in CG Cloud, create a new app from a template or base your app on an existing app. When you do this, the TPE app runs a compatibility check for your org. This check ensures that the org includes the data to successfully create the app’s datasets, recipes, and dashboards. If the compatibility check fails, follow the instructions in the error message to add the required data and attempt the app creation again. When the compatibility check is successful, select the following datasets.

  • Promotion Dataset
  • Promotion Tactic Dataset
  • Account Plan Dataset
  • Exported Measure Codes Dataset

Lastly, name your app and save the changes.

In this unit, you learned about some dashboards and TPE app creation in CG Cloud. In the next unit, explore TPE dashboards that show insights into promotion performance.
