Salesforce introduced great feature enhancements over the past year. Let’s take a look at some of the more important ones.
Easily and Accurately Complete Address Fields
Quickly fill out address fields in Omniscripts with Google Maps data. To enable this setting, designers add a Type Ahead block to an Omniscript and configure the Google Maps autocomplete settings, including whether to show a Google map. When a customer, agent, or other user starts typing an address, they can select an address from the matching addresses that the field shows, and the remaining address fields are automatically filled.
Where: This feature is available in Lightning Experience and Experience Cloud sites in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions where Omnistudio is enabled.
Who: This feature is available to Omnistudio customers who use the managed package or standard runtime.
How: While the Google Maps settings are enabled by default, the Omniscript requires a Google API key. In the Type Ahead Block element, enable Google Maps autocomplete, enter the key, and configure the other properties before previewing the autocomplete field.
Omnistudio DataRaptor Has a New Name
Salesforce has renamed DataRaptor to Omnistudio Data Mapper. You'll see the updated name in the feature name and labels in the Omnistudio designers, Salesforce documentation, and Trailhead modules. Despite the name change, all APIs, object fields, signatures, and URLs with “dataraptor” are not changed so that your implementations continue to work as expected. The new name appears in Omnistudio Spring ’24 release and later.
Use OmniOut on Mobile Devices
With OmniOut, your Omniscripts and Flexcards can now run on iOS and Android devices. From Winter ’24, most Omniscript settings and actions work on OmniOut for both mobile platforms. But some settings and actions aren’t supported currently, such as toast messages, opening record pages and Experience site logins, and email with a link.
Where: Lightning Experience, Experience Cloud sites, and all versions of Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions where Omnistudio is enabled.
Who: Omnistudio customers who migrate data from the custom metadata to the standard runtime: In Setup in Omnistudio Settings, the Managed Package Runtime setting is disabled.
How: You must install OmniOut, integrate it with your application, and deploy your application.
Automatic Upgrades for Managed Packages
Starting in Spring ’24, we added the Omnistudio managed package to the automatic upgrade process. This process aligns with the Salesforce seasonal release cycle, where new features are delivered three times a year (Summer, Winter, and Spring). With automatic upgrades, you also get early access to upcoming releases in your sandbox preview environment.
Who: All Omnistudio managed packages.
Why: Automatic upgrades keep your sandboxes and production environments current with the latest features, let you test customizations and new features in your sandboxes, and provide regular patch updates with performance, stability, and security improvements.

Improve the Readability and Formatting of Documents with Dynamic Rich Texts and Hyperlinks
Contract authors can render dynamic rich text and links in Microsoft Word document templates by using server-side Omnistudio Document Generation. The tokens render rich text content and URLs in the generated DOCX and PDF files. Use the dynamic rich text tokens to show product details as a block of information in its original formatting in your generated document. Use the dynamic link tokens to insert a link for each ordered product that directs you to the product specification web page.
Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Unlimited, Professional, and Developer editions.
Who: Users with the DocGen Designer permission set to design document templates, and DocGen Runtime permissions to generate documents.
Why: The placement of rich text and hyperlink tokens can be anywhere within a document template, such as in paragraphs, tables, and text boxes. Use tokens in a header or footer or within a repeating content section to pass an array of hyperlinks and rich text.
In the text Area (Rich) field, you can format text by using different fonts, colors, ordered lists, unordered lists, and hyperlinks. Place the rich text tokens in a new line in the document template. The rich text token format is {{RTB_<richtexttokenname>}}
, for example, {{RTB_Header}}
.
A text for the URL can be defined in the DataRaptor Transform. If a text isn't provided for the hyperlink, the URL appears blue and underlined in the generated document. The font of the hyperlink token defines the hyperlink font in the generated document. You can use hyperlinks in a generated quote. The hyperlink token format is {{HYP_<hyperlinktokenname>}}
, for example, {{HYP_Salesforce Website}}
.
