Set Up CRM Analytics for Financial Services Cloud

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Create a CRM Analytics app from a template.
  • Share a CRM Analytics app with a user.
  • Schedule a data sync.
  • Schedule a dataflow.

Create a CRM Analytics App

A CRM Analytics app is a group of data visualization elements like dashboards, lenses, and widgets. Templates come with ready-made dashboards and KPIs that you can use and customize. While you can always create a blank app and add elements to it later, creating one from a template is a quick way to get started.

Matt creates an app based on the Analytics for Wealth Management template.

  1. Click App Launcher.
  2. Find and select Analytics Studio.
  3. Click Create, and then select App.
  4. In the Create a New App window, select Analytics for Wealth Management, and click Continue.
The Create a New App window
  5. On the preview page, read about the app and all the wonderful dashboards that come with it. Click Continue.
  6. CRM Analytics checks if your org meets the requirements for creating the app.
    • If it reports any issues, check the error messages and related instructions, fix the errors, and try again.
    • If it completes successfully, click Looks good, next.
  7. Use the next two pages to customize the app. Read the description for each question, and select your answers according to your business requirement. When you’re done, click Looks good, next.
  8. In the Name your app window, enter Analytics for Cumulus Wealth Management and click Create.
  9. Wait for the app to be created. The page shows the status of the app creation.
  10. After the app is ready, refresh the page to see the brand-new app.
Note

If you see an error saying the Analytics Integration User doesn’t have access to selected fields, edit Salesforce field-level security so the Integration User has the required access.

Share the CRM Analytics App

What good is happiness if you can’t share it with others? The same goes for CRM Analytics. Matt shares the newly created wealth management app with Ryan Dobson.

Remember that you can only share a CRM Analytics app with users who’ve been assigned the CRM Analytics for FSC admin or user permission sets.

  1. Open the Analytics for Cumulus Wealth Management app.
  2. Click Share.
  3. In the Invite others section, select User, and then search for Ryan Dobson.
Matt wants to grant Ryan only viewing access to the app.
  4. Select Viewer, and then click Add.
Sharing the Analytics for Cumulus Wealth Management app with Ryan Dobson
  5. Click Save.

Schedule a Data Sync

Matt wants to ensure that the app and related dashboards always show the latest data. To enable this, he schedules a data sync and a dataflow.

He starts with a data sync.

  1. Click App Launcher.
  2. Find and select Analytics Studio.
  3. Click and select Data Manager.
  4. Click Manage Dataflows.
  5. Click Connect.
If you don’t see the Connect tab, enable the data sync in your org by following the steps in Enable Data Sync and Connections. SFDC_LOCAL is the name of the connection your app uses.
  6. Click Down arrow next to it, and select Schedule.
  7. Set a schedule to run the data sync.
In this case, schedule it to run every day at 1 AM so that it doesn’t interfere with business activities.
    • Schedule by: Week
    • Start at: 1:00 am
    • Select all days
The schedule window for SFDC_LOCAL connection
  8. Click Save.

Schedule a Dataflow

Next, Matt schedules the dataflow.

  1. Click App Launcher.
  2. Find and select Analytics Studio.
  3. Click 25px, and select Data Manager.
  4. Click Manage Dataflows.
  5. Click the DATAFLOWS tab.
  6. Search for Analytics for Cumulus Wealth Management Main Dataflow.
  7. Click Down arrow next to it, and select Schedule.
  8. Set a schedule to run the dataflow at least an hour after the time the data sync runs.
Matt schedules it for each day at 3 AM so that it doesn’t interfere with Cumulus business activities.
    1. Schedule Mode: Time-based
    2. Schedule by: Week
    3. Start at: 3:00 am
    4. Select all days.
The schedule window for Analytics for Cumulus Wealth Management Main Dataflow
  9. Click Save. The dataflow is now scheduled.
Note

For better performance, if your app includes multiple dataflows, schedule them to run at different times.

What’s Next

CRM Analytics is all set up and ready to go. Matt created a wealth management app and shared it with Ryan. He also set up a datasync and dataflow so that the latest data is available to CRM Analytics. But he's not done. In the next unit, Matt adds relevant dashboards to Lightning pages so that Ryan has quick access to contextual insights. Onward and upward!
