Use Case

You're working on an important deal with TerraGlobal SolarSystems (TerraGlobal,) a multinational corporation interested in large-scale deployment of solar solutions. The company operates in several regions, each with a specific regional currency and pricing requirements.

Ursa Major Solar (UMS) offers various products, from basic solar panels to advanced energy storage systems, as well as ongoing annual maintenance plans, extra batteries, and other add-ons. Some products are standard offerings, and others are services such as annual maintenance plans and support for regulatory compliance. TerraGlobal is particularly interested in UMS-specialized solutions across its diverse markets.

Important notes about the UMS sales process are below.

  • Every opportunity must have an associated account.
  • Every opportunity must have at least one related contact; if the contact's role isn't known, indicate "other".
  • The name of new opportunities must start with the following format: Account - Amount. If the company has more than one division, the opportunity name should include the division, with the format Account Division - Amount.
  • For the opportunity name, only use whole numbers and do not add any non-numeric characters such as currency indicators ($, ¥, €) or radix characters (commas, periods, or spaces).
  • The close date must be in the future. (You can use any date you'd like; we won't check for a specific date.)
  • Opportunities should be associated with, or refer back to, any relevant marketing campaigns whenever possible.
  • If a deal is in an incorrect stage, it is allowed for the record to be updated to a prior stage in the sales process.
  • A special note for big deals: A quote for any opportunity over 1 million needs to be submitted for approval.

Note

Note

For this superbadge unit, we're not checking for the naming convention required in the rest of the Selling Specialist Super Set. Each superbadge unit has particular assessment objectives and tests your skills on specific topics. Opportunity names in this unit contain just the account name and the division name if applicable.

Business Requirements

Work with Price Books and Opportunity Products

Review the products and services of interest to each of the TerraGlobal divisions. Following the UMS sales process, ensure that the opportunity record accurately represents the deal and attach products to the opportunity reflecting the customer’s interest. Note: You can decide on values such as Stage and Close Date; we won’t check for anything other than what’s specified in the requirements for working with products, price books, and quotes. We also won’t check for the naming convention used in other units of the Sales Opportunities Management Specialist Superbadge.

TerraGlobal Renewables USA: Exclusively focusing on the US market, this distributor division is dedicated to guiding customers through the complex landscape of state-specific regulations and funding opportunities related to renewable energy. They are interested in 65 complete solar panel sets, with an option for your engineering advisory team to provide guidance on regulatory compliance for the US markets. Make sure to use US dollars as the currency for this deal.

TerraGlobal SolarTech Europe: A distributor specializing in the European market, this distributor division focuses on providing tailored solar technology solutions suited to the diverse climatic and regulatory environments across Europe. After your demo, they indicated that they are interested in 40 complete solar panel sets, 10 backup batteries, and 10 annual maintenance plans for standard solar panels. Make sure to use euros as the currency for this deal.

TerraGlobal Canada: Focused on the Canadian market, this North American distributor division specializes in delivering solar energy solutions tailored to Canada's unique climatic challenges and energy demands. They are interested in 20 complete solar panel sets, 20 backup batteries, and a regulatory compliance advising service for each of their three territories, ensuring compliance with different Canadian provincial energy regulations. Make sure to use Canadian dollars as the currency for this deal.

Work with Discounts and Quotes

The TerraGlobal Solar Dynamics Australia division is focused on harnessing Australia's abundant solar resources. It adapts cutting-edge solar technologies to meet the unique environmental and energy needs of the Australian market, emphasizing sustainable and efficient energy solutions. They are interested in 25 complete solar panel sets. Create a quote that includes a value for taxes, using 10% of the product subtotal for the tax value. Then add a flat fee of 1000 for shipping and handling. Make sure that the quote is syncing to the opportunity record and use Australian dollars as the currency for this deal.

Next up is TerraGlobal Sunshine USA. This deal is a big one! There’s already one complete quote in the system, but the deal isn't moving forward. Because of the size of the deal, you’re hoping to extend a discount and close the deal. Create a new quote that reflects a 10% line item discount on the solar panel sets. Review the UMS sales process requirements for big quotes. Make sure that the quote with the discount is syncing to the opportunity record and use US dollars as the currency for this deal.
