Introduction

You’ve already gotten the Dataloader.io gassed up and ready to go. Time to take it for one more spin. In this step, use Dataloader.io to update the records you exported in the previous step, filling in site information for the companies on the list to allow the sales team to identify them by their region.

Update Using Dataloader.io

Start by clicking here to open the account-site file and save it to your Desktop.

  1. Ensure the account-site file and the Account Exports file (from the previous step) are open.
  2. Copy and paste the contents of the Account Site column from the account-site file into the blank Site column in the Accounts Export file.

  3. Save the Accounts Export.csv file in CSV format with a different name.

Windows users:

  • With the Accounts Export.csv file open, click File and Save As.
  • Keep the file type CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv).
Note: If you are using an international computer the CSV file generated on Excel will most likely not be delimited with commas. You can check if your CSV file delimiter is a comma by opening it with the Notepad app (or equivalent) on your computer. Additionally, the file can also be saved as txt tab-delimited.
  • Change the filename to Updated Account Site Import.
  • Click Save and save the file to your desktop. If needed, click Yes from the pop-up window.
  • Close both files.

Mac users:

  • Ensure that you are in the window with the Accounts Export file, click File > Export To > CSV…
  • Click Next…
  • Save As: Updated Account Site Import.
  • Where: Desktop
  • Click Export.
  • Close Numbers.
  • Close the file.

Google Sheets users:

  • With the Accounts Export.csv file open, click File > Rename.
  • Change the title to Updated Account Site Import.
  • Click File > Download.
  • Select Comma Separated Value (.csv) and ensure this file is on your desktop for easy access.

Now your Updated Account Site Import file is ready to be updated using Dataloader.io.

  1. With Dataloader.io open, click NEW TASK and select IMPORT.
  2. Select Update.
  3. From the Object list, select Account.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click Upload CSV.
  6. Choose the Updated Account Site Import file from your desktop, and click Open.
  7. Ensure the data is mapping correctly to the existing data.
