Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • List the key employees of Alpine Group and their roles.
  • Identify the insights that CRM Analytics for Consumer Goods Cloud can provide.
  • Sign up for a Developer Edition org with CRM Analytics for Consumer Goods Cloud.

Meet the People at Alpine Group

Alpine Group Nutrition & Beverages is a trendsetting consumer goods company that sells food products, beverages, and apparel to health-conscious consumers.

Let’s say hello to the people who drive retail execution at Alpine Group.

  • Sales manager: Gustavo De Luca is a sales manager who manages a team of field reps and schedules their store visits, routes, and tasks. He handles some of Alpine Group’s key accounts, including Northern Trail Outfitters (NTO), a nationwide store chain. He optimizes its promotions and identifies cross-selling opportunities.
Note

In most companies, different people handle accounts, sales, and field reps.

  • Field rep: Chantelle Arceo is a field rep on Gustavo’s team. She juggles the tasks of auditing inventory, facilitating order processing, and monitoring promotion and planogram compliance. She interacts with retailers and store managers to understand a store’s performance and drive sales. As she is almost always on the move, she uses the Retail Execution mobile app for all her work.
  • Merchandiser: Jimothy Albert is a merchandiser at Alpine Group. He’s responsible for checking in-store assets, managing store-shelf displays, keeping tabs on promotional activities, and ensuring product availability.

Alpine Group uses CRM Analytics for Consumer Goods Cloud. In this module, we learn how its employees use CRM Analytics dashboards to gain actionable insights into data.

The Insights We Want

Due to strong consumer demand, Alpine Group’s sales have skyrocketed. The company has added more products to its portfolio, and more stores for its top accounts. And Gustavo has an important presentation coming up. He must present an annual report to senior executives that shows how NTO stores are performing and the areas of improvement.

Here are some questions that Gustavo wants to answer in the report.

  • How are all the NTO stores in my territory performing?
  • Is there any causal relationship between store compliance and revenue?
  • How do different products rank based on various key performance indicators (KPIs)?
  • Which promotions have been successful for individual products?
  • What is the performance trend of the assortments for NTO stores?
  • What are the cross-selling opportunities in NTO stores?
  • How is my team performing and how can I spot areas of improvement for a field rep?

Chantelle wants to find out ways to improve her performance and audits. Here are some questions that CRM Analytics can help her with.

  • Was there an improvement in the performance of the last store I visited?
  • How many tasks did I complete in my last visit?
  • Is my performance above my team’s average?
  • What is the trend for store compliance across stores that I’m responsible for?
  • How are stores faring in their compliance and sales metrics?
