Learning Objectives
After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:
- Describe how Tableau Accelerators can help you get a head start on analyzing your data.
- Explain the features and benefits of Tableau Accelerator for Nonprofit Fundraising and Tableau Accelerators for Nonprofit Program Management.
Jump-Start Data Analysis with Salesforce for Nonprofits and Tableau
Salesforce for Nonprofits is a platform that helps nonprofits unify their fundraising, program management, grants, and marketing data to deliver exceptional stakeholder experiences and drive impact. Connecting Salesforce to Tableau allows you to easily surface that data for deeper exploration, analysis, and sharing. Together, the two tools create an end-to-end impact platform.
But where do you begin?
If you use Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), Program Management Module (PMM), or Nonprofit Cloud Case Management, there are three Tableau Accelerators that can help you jump-start your analysis with actionable data in minutes. The Accelerators work like templates, where the structure is provided for you. In just a few clicks, you can connect to your real-world data to create beautiful, data-rich dashboards.
You can use the Accelerators' dashboards and visualizations right away to gain insight, and then take the next step to get a deeper understanding of your operations by adding and modifying visualizations. With a better view into your data, you’ll be on your way to raising more money, running more effective programs, and better meeting your mission.
In this unit we’ll review the features of each of these Tableau Accelerators.
Tableau Accelerator for Nonprofit Fundraising
You know what they say: No margin, no mission. Tableau Dashboards for Nonprofit Fundraising are designed to help you gain insights into revenue performance over time and quickly understand trends to better focus and forecast your fundraising.
You can start by checking the Revenue Overview dashboard to see your overall performance. From there, you can dig deeper:
- Compare key statistics around new, retained, reactivated, recurring, and lapsed donors in the Donor Acquisition, Retention, and Churn dashboard.
- Compare your most effective campaigns and direct-fundraising channels (email, direct mail, etc.) to see trends over time using the Campaign Performance dashboard.
With this information you can feel more confident using data to drive decisions to shift fundraising strategy and align your team. You can also expand these dashboards to other departments and connect with other applications.
Tableau Accelerators for Nonprofit Program Management
Tableau Accelerators for Nonprofit Program Management are designed to quickly provide you with actionable data on key metrics such as service delivery, client enrollment and participation, intake, and staff capacity.
If you use Salesforce for Nonprofits’ open-source PMM, you’ll use the Nonprofit Program Management on the Tableau Accelerators page. Organizations that use Nonprofit Cloud Case Management can use the Nonprofit Case Management Accelerator, which offer the same dashboards as Nonprofit Program Management plus a few more.
We’ll go over how to access all of these Tableau Accelerators in the next unit, but first let’s look at the capabilities of each.
The Program Management Accelerator allows you to quickly gain insights and understand trends around service delivery with the Clients dashboard and Service Delivery dashboard. Plus, you can understand staff and program capacity and client engagement using the Staff Capacity dashboard.
The Case Management Accelerator includes all of the Program Management dashboards, plus two more ways to gain insights into the work of your case managers:
- The Intake dashboard shows you the status and trends of your inbound referrals, intake processes, and waitlist engagements.
- The Assessments dashboard shows you client assessments and allows you to quickly see your service efficacy by comparing the quantity of services delivered for clients who had assessment scores below target versus those who had scores above target.
With either Accelerator, you’ll be able to quickly connect your data and start using data to make decisions with confidence.
Take the Next Step
Now that you understand what Accelerators can do, it’s time to dive in and get to work connecting your data to the dashboards that would most help your organization.
In the next unit we’ll review how to get started with any of these Accelerators in Tableau Cloud or Tableau Desktop.
